1: Swipe down from top and click Settings icon, under “Wireless & Networks” setting tap on “More”

2: Tap on the “Default SMS app” option and here select the app of your choice.

For your information, when you install third-party messaging apps, they do have quick links in their app to make it default, but if it’s not you can follow the procedure above.
